What DAP means for you

Delivered at place (DAP) - incoterms 2020

All international orders are shipped on DAP terms. We arrange freight and deliver your order to your door, but you are responsible for any import duties, taxes and customs clearance costs charged by your country on arrival. These charges are collected by the courier or your local customs authority - not by Livinghouse - and are paid separately from your order total.

Prices on our website do not include local tax. All prices shown are exclusive of UK VAT (removed on export) and exclusive of any import duty or tax due in your country.

Ordering electrical items?

Some products - steam generators, sauna heaters, ice bath chillers, and heated towel rails - are wired for UK voltage (230V) and UK plug fittings. If you're ordering for the USA, Canada, or any 110–120V market, please tell us your destination country when you enquire and we'll confirm compatibility or wiring options before you order.

Duty and tax rates are set by each country's customs authority and vary by product type, order value, and current legislation - figures above are a general guide only and may change. We recommend checking with your local customs office or freight forwarder for current rates before placing a high-value order. Livinghouse cannot accept responsibility for customs delays or charges beyond our control.

Common questions about international orders

Will I be charged VAT on my order?
No. UK VAT is removed from your order total for all export shipments - you will not pay UK VAT. Instead, you'll pay your own country's equivalent tax (for example, sales tax in the USA, GST/HST in Canada, GST in Australia) when your order arrives, collected by your local customs authority or courier. The exact amount depends on your country, the products ordered, and their value.
Who handles customs clearance - me, or Livinghouse?
Under DAP terms, you are the importer of record and are responsible for customs clearance. In most cases your courier (DHL, FedEx, etc.) will handle clearance automatically and contact you if any duty or tax payment is required before final delivery - you don't need to arrange anything in advance. For higher-value or more complex shipments (particularly in Australia above AUD $1,000), a customs broker may be involved and their fee will be charged separately. We can provide full commercial invoices, product descriptions, and HS codes to support the clearance process.
Can you tell me exactly how much duty and tax I'll pay?
Not with certainty - these charges are set by your country's customs authority and depend on the specific products, their declared value, and current rates, which can change. However, when you send us your Wishlist we can give you a reasonable estimate based on similar orders we've processed to your country, if you request this. For complete accuracy on high-value projects, we recommend consulting a customs broker or your country's customs authority before ordering.
How long does international delivery take?
Lead times vary depending on your destination and whether products are in stock or made to order. Many of our products are manufactured to specification, which adds production time. We'll give you a clear estimated timeframe when we quote your order. Customs clearance at your end can add additional time, particularly for orders above certain thresholds.
Can you provide documentation for my customs broker?
Yes. We can provide a commercial invoice, packing list, product descriptions and HS (Harmonised System) tariff codes for all shipments. If your broker needs specific documentation, let us know when you place your order and we'll ensure everything is included with your shipment paperwork.
What happens if my shipment is held at customs?
Customs holds are uncommon on our shipments but can occasionally occur, particularly for high-value consignments. Your courier will contact you directly if action is needed. We're always on hand to provide any additional documentation or product information that customs may request - just contact us at sales@livinghouse.co.uk and we'll respond promptly.
What is your returns and warranty policy for international orders?
All products carry manufacturer warranties. In the unlikely event of a fault or damage on delivery, please contact us immediately with photographic evidence and we'll work with you to resolve it - whether that's a replacement part, a full replacement, or a refund. Please note that return shipping on international orders is at the buyer's cost unless the item was faulty on arrival. We always recommend inspecting goods carefully upon receipt and before installation. Full terms are available at our terms page.
Can you ship to my country?
We ship worldwide. We also have dedicated sites for customers in France, Germany, and the UAE/Gulf region. For all other countries, the same DAP shipping terms apply. Send us your Wishlist and delivery address and we'll come back to you with a full quote.
