{"id":5440,"date":"2017-01-18T11:04:58","date_gmt":"2017-01-18T11:04:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/blog\/?p=5440"},"modified":"2017-01-18T11:04:58","modified_gmt":"2017-01-18T11:04:58","slug":"installing-soft-close-toilet-seat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/blog\/installing-soft-close-toilet-seat\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Install a Soft-Close Toilet Seat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Installation of a soft close toilet seat may appear difficult at first; but if you follow our video guide, you&#8217;ll find it&#8217;s quite a simple process.<\/p>\n<p>This installation guide is based on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/acatalog\/Nouveau_White_Back_to_Wall_Toilet_with_Soft_Closing_Seats.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nouveau White Toilet<\/a>, but the process is much the same for any <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/acatalog\/toilets.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">toilet and soft close seat<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BXHtpEqA6zQ\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Out of the box, the seat is already set-up with the hinges in the correct position. There&#8217;s usually tape over the hinges to hold this position, so do not remove the tape yet.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Loosen the grub screws on the hinges to allow the seat to easily slot onto the base pegs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Push the expanding pegs into the holes on the toilet.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Position the seat onto the base pegs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Use the seat to make sure the position of the pegs is correct.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tighten the screws on the bases to expand the pegs into their holes and hold them in place. Don&#8217;t fully tighten yet as you may need to adjust slightly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tighten the grub screws on the seat to hold the hinges in place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Test the seat by allowing it to soft-close.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Once closed, check the seat and lid are all aligned with the toilet pan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; If not correctly aligned, move the seat into the correct position.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Once the position is correct, fully tighten the pegs into place.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Check there are no gaps between the hinge and the seat, or the pegs and the toilet pan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Loosen the hinges from the pegs again and remove the seat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Place the covers over the base pegs.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Replace the seat and tighten the hinges.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Please note the soft-close hinge movement may be tight on first few uses but will ease into normal soft close over time.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Never force the seat down as you risk damaging the soft close mechanism.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Installation of a soft close toilet seat may appear difficult at first; but if you follow our video guide, you&#8217;ll find it&#8217;s quite a simple process.
