{"id":418,"date":"2012-07-05T16:32:15","date_gmt":"2012-07-05T16:32:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/blog\/?p=418"},"modified":"2012-07-05T16:32:15","modified_gmt":"2012-07-05T16:32:15","slug":"central-heating-radiators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/blog\/central-heating-radiators\/","title":{"rendered":"Central Heating Radiators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Radiators are no longer the ugly but necessary horrors they once were.\u00a0 They are far more efficient than they used to be and are now available in a range of styles to suit most homes.<br \/>\nYou now have the choice between ultra modern radiators and traditional cast iron radiators, depending on the style of your home.<br \/>\nModern, innovative designs can be discreet or stand out as a prominent focal feature.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Flat panel radiators are available in a range of sizes and contemporary colours, and can be used horizontally or vertically<\/li>\n<li>Tube or fin style radiators with oval square and pepperpot shaped tubes<\/li>\n<li>Mirror panels, some with etchings, and often available in a \u201ccondensation free\u201d finish\u00a0 for bathrooms<\/li>\n<li>Chrome radiators available in highly polished or brushed, and also with etched patterns.<\/li>\n<li>Glass panels with invisible heating rods<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For traditionalists old fashioned cast-iron radiators are still available but with much improved efficiency. Victorian cast iron radiators can be bought in a whole range of modern and traditional colours.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Size Matters<\/strong><br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-613\" title=\"radiators-oscar-etched\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.livinghouse.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/radiators-oscar-etched-1.jpg\" width=\"195\" height=\"246\" \/>The most important part of choosing a radiator is to make sure you get the right size radiator for every room \u2013 too small and it won\u2019t be warm enough \u2013 too big and it will be inefficient and expensive. Your supplier should be able to do this for you, or supply you with the manufacturer\u2019s heat loss calculations. The other important consideration is placement of your radiator. From an efficiency point of view the best place is usually the coldest part of the wall \u2013 probably under a window. If this is not practical, or not desirable, a skilled installer can advise on still getting the most efficient performance from any other position.
